The LegalTech Fund TLTF, the first venture capital firm exclusively dedicated to law and legal technology, has announced new information regarding its upcoming events. This includes the first TLTF Summit, a three-day gathering for investors, startups, and legal innovation thought leaders, and the debut TLTF Startup Challenge, a pitch competition for legal and regulatory technology startups. Both events are scheduled for December 7–9 in Miami.
The TLTF Startup Challenge
TLTF confirmed it received more than 150 applications for participation in the Startup Challenge. An external panel of judges is currently evaluating the applicants to determine the companies that will compete. Selected participants will gain the opportunity to present their organizations to an audience composed of entrepreneurs, venture capital and private equity firms, law firms, corporate legal groups, and embedded corporations. Zach Posner, TLTF managing partner and cofounder, expressed great enthusiasm about the response to the conference announcement. He anticipates the Startup Challenge will showcase “a powerful lineup of early-stage companies which represent the most original ideas, stellar leadership, and infinite potential from the applicant pool.”
Summit Programming and Attendance
The summit is designed to provide robust programming for legal practitioners across law firms and corporate legal departments. Sessions will address cutting-edge technologies within emerging areas such as privacy, intellectual property, blockchain, artificial intelligence machine learning, and robotic process automation, among others. The event is structured to offer three concentrated days of networking, deal making, and educational opportunities, featuring keynotes, panel discussions, and breakout sessions. Attendance for the summit will be limited to 250 attendees. The registration deadline is November 23.
Location and Sponsorship
The TLTF Summit will take place at the East Hotel in Miami. All registered attendees, including investors and startup entrepreneurs, will have access to all sessions and networking events. Initial sponsors supporting the summit include companies such as Thomson Reuters and Litera, alongside law firms like Gunderson Dettmer, Orrick, and McDermott Will & Emery. The legal media organization ALM is sponsoring the Startup Challenge.
